Gambrill Foundation generously funded Real Care Babies for Impact’s Resource Center. Real Care Babies are dolls that simulate an infant anywhere from a newborn to a six month old. These babies are more realistic than Baby Think it Over with all of the appropriate fussiness but a teen pregnancy prevention program that doesn't require quite as much instructor care. Students actually feed, burp, rock, change baby’s diapers. Students and teachers agree, RealCare ® Baby II is the next best thing to an actual infant for preventing teen pregnancy. Many parents bring their son/daughter individually to check out dolls at the Resource Center. Impact will also provide a staff person to teach up to four lessons, distribute up to 11 babies per classroom and report score back to students. Babies are programmed at various care levels and students are given a computer report in regards to their ability to care for the doll. Anderson Alternative School, New Foundations, and Westside-Hanna Extension Campus all participate in the Real Care Baby Program. Contact Jessica Brimeyer at Impact to learn more.
